A Love Letter to Erika

This is a hard one to write — and an even harder reality to live.

This month, we say goodbye to someone truly extraordinary. If you're not sure who we're talking about, you may have spotted her on the greenbelt, cycling past with Lincoln — yes, her parrot — perched proudly on her handlebars. That's Erika. One of a kind, in the very best way.

As we mark her 4th anniversary with our team, there's a bittersweet warmth in the air. Erika arrived with an energy that was impossible not to feel the moment she walked through the door — warm, genuine, and lit up by a love for her craft that never dimmed. Whether she had a brush, a colour bowl, or a set of extensions in her hands, she worked with an artistry that left clients not just looking beautiful, but feeling seen.

Watching her grow over these four years has been one of our greatest privileges. She didn't just raise the bar for the work being done in our space — she raised the spirit of everyone around her. We've learned from her, laughed with her, and been inspired by her kindness toward every person (and creature) she's ever encountered.

Erika and her family are heading to Vancouver Island to begin their next great adventure, and while we will absolutely mourn the empty chair and the absence of her contagious smile — we could not be more excited for what's ahead for her.

The island has no idea what's coming. 🌿

Erika, thank you for four beautiful years. Thank you for your talent, your tenderness, and for making this place a little more magical just by being part of it. We love you, we'll miss you endlessly, and we can't wait to watch you bloom somewhere new.

Love Sara and your Birches. 🖤
