Taylor Volkmann - a calm, lovely energy to have in our space. She is always delivering consistent and advanced technical work served up with a genuine passion for her craft. She just celebrated her 3rd anniversary working in our salon in beautiful Revelstoke, BC! Read on to see her predictions for 2026 & latest favourites.

How did you get started in the industry? Tell us about your competition / creative work!

While I was in High School in Calgary AB, I started taking a cosmetology course at a nearby trades school. I got very lucky with some really amazing teachers. One of which was the one who created the program, and introduced me to the competition world of hair!Which was a really cool experience after having recently quit snowboard cross competitions.

What brought you to Revelstoke, BC?

What first brought me to Revelstoke was the proximity to the mountains and lakes. A friend of mine moved here first so I was visiting often. I eventually realized there was an Aveda salon here, and that moving here could actually be a reality vs joking about it.

What do you love about your job?

I got very lucky with how great the team is here and I love that I get to meet so many new people in my chair.

Favourite service to offer?

Services I offer; Colouring and highlighting, haircuts short to Rapunzel long, tape in and weft hair extensions

What are your predictions for hair/makeup in 2026? What would you love to see more of in your chair?

For 2026 I have a feeling that we’re going to continue to see warm tone on tone blondes, people embracing their natural wave, and healthy hair! I’d love to see more subtle hand painted foil services in my chair because it is such a fun satisfying service to do.

What are your favourite products currently, and why?

My favourite products change so often, I really like to switch it up. But I would say Davines SU Milk with UV protection is a new favourite lately, as well as the Davines customizable treatments at the sink.

Top ice cream flavour?

Top ice cream flavour would be RoloRolo —- iykyk

What do you love doing in your spare time?

In my spare time I love to get outside and snowboard, golf, hang out at the lake or find a sunny patio!

Latest obsession? What are you reading or watching right now?

My latest obsession is watching the Olympics! Otherwise I’m currently watching Mobland on Paramount.

Tell us something that may surprise people?

Something about me that may surprise people is that Birch & Lace is actually only my third job, ever.
